Here are Alicia Gael’s top sapphic reads of 2025:

1. Atmosphere by Taylor Jenkins Reid

It’s a beautiful story, and so well written. It will keep you on the edge of your seat, and try to break your heart. You won’t want to put it down.

2. The Black Bird of Chernobyl by Ann McMan

It’s the writing! It’s the story! It’s the characters! It’s funny, it breaks your heart, it’s unputdownable.

3. The Piano in the Tree by Jo Havens

OMG it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read. The writing is amazing. The story is spell binding and the characters wrap you around their fingers and won’t let you do. I couldn’t put it down.

4. What Really Matters by Rita Potter

Set the week before and several months after 9/11. That day and the residual effects it had on the characters are handled with delicacy and respect, it never exploits the event or the character’s stories. The author took great care to make sure she got the details, the trauma and emotions right. It will absolutely break you, and put you back together.

5. The Wilding of Em’s Path by Ana K. Wrenn

So well written. The story is spellbinding and a frightening look at what our future could be.

Meet Alicia Gael

I’m a published author (three books.) I’d wanted to write and publish a book since I was 12. I finally published my first book at age 63, proving it’s never too late to accomplish a goal or fulfill a dream.
