Today is Texas SandFest

Texas Sandfest
Texas SandFest is a three day American festival celebrated in Port Aransas, TX.

Texas SandFest is the largest sand sculpting competition in the U.S. It started as a small, local competition in 1997 and now is an internationally recognized three-day family event.

Check out the festivities and amazing sand sculptures in this amazing video. These are truly some of the most awesome sand sculptures we’ve ever seen. (And check out the bonus tin foil hats at 4:07.)

Texas SandFest has grown into more than just a sand sculpting competition. The festival hosts lots of fun events over the course of the weekend like live music, food, kids’ events, and shopping for arts and crafts.

If you can’t make it to Texas SandFest, there are other ways to celebrate. Go to the beach and build your own sand sculpture. Play with your kids in the sandbox or at the park. Most of all, have fun!

Today we bring you three sapphic books that take place at the beach.

Curious what tomorrow’s special day will be?

Make sure to check back each day for your daily calendar trivia, along with more great book recommendations! Any day spent reading sapphic books is a day to be celebrated!
