In July of 2002, a body is discovered in a run down apartment in Van Nuys, California. After Detective Gale Blue arrives on the scene, it becomes apparent that it was a murder staged to look like a suicide. One phrase at the end of the forcefully written note that the victim left behind is the very same as another apparent suicide that took place in the Sunset Strip two weeks prior: ‘For the sake of our species, I choose to end it here, so that others can live.’

A serial killer is threatening the City of Angels. The victims are completely different and the method in which they’re killed changes with every murder. How do you catch someone who covers their tracks and has no rhyme or reason to who they target next? Gale must reach a conclusion to that question before more innocent lives are lost.

What she’s truly afraid of is the darkness she has to face within herself to get the answers she needs. She still remembers her previous partner’s suicide one year ago. She still suffers with PTSD from the case that led to that tragic outcome two years ago. In order to push through that trauma, she’ll have to remember to do one thing…
