On this day in 1941, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, drawing the United States into World War II
Up until the attack on Pearl Harbor, the US had followed an isolationist policy that kept them out of the war. But after Japanese forces killed more than 2400 people and destroyed 330 planes and 19 ships in the worst attack on American soil by a foreign nation, the majority of American people called for joining the war. On this day, we remember the sacrifices of those who were injured or killed on that day, and reflect on the hardships endured by the men and women who defend their countries against foreign aggression. To honor the occasion, we have selected three books set during World War II.
