Today is the Anniversary of the BBC World Service

BBC World Service Anniversary
On this day in 1932, the BBC World Service made its first broadcast on shortwave.

A few days later, King George V gave the first Royal Christmas Message, which was scripted by Rudyard Kipling. Though expectations were very low at first, the BBC World Service is now the world’s largest external broadcaster in terms of reception area, languages and audience reach. To mark the occasion, we are highlighting three books with main characters who are journalists.
