Why this book and why now?
One of my favorite books of all times is The Stand by Stephen King, so I had always wanted to write my own apocalyptic book. Luckily, I was too naive to realize how hard it is to write a series with so many characters, so I tackled it after my debut novel. Now that I know more, I probably wouldn’t have 🙂
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
It started out at around 125,000 words, so my publisher told me it needed to be split. I’m so glad she did because it made the series so much richer. When I split it I needed a compelling ending, so I added a whole new storyline that drives the next two books.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
The Walking Dead– so they would realize things could be worse 🙂
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
This is EASY since that is exactly what happened. They would want community, love, and knowledge. They learn pretty quickly that material possessions don’t mean much.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Dillion would do a wine toast, as long as nobody threw it at her. Readers will get this one!
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
This is easy- anyone who reads the entire series will get this one. The song would be We Are the Champions by Queen.
