Why this book and why now?
I released “Dark Justice” the first book in this series in September 2021. Readers wanted more about Court and Sage, so I released “Garden of Eden” Book #2 Dark Justice Series in July 2022. My readers and I think a series should release one book a year, so I am releasing “Buried Secret” Book #3 Dark Justice Series on May 9, 2023. Also, May 9 is my birthday so I selected that day to release the third book in the series.
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
Dark Justice was about first-time romance and a little age gap. My characters make film documentaries and have grown together as people and lovers in their quests to explore the unexplainable. They’re modern-day, female soldiers of fortune.
Would you and your main character(s) get along? Why, or why not?
Yes, we share the same fascination with the unexplained. I am always on the lookout for new discoveries and unbelievable things so I can write a mystery about them featuring Court and Sage.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
As a writer, I don’t watch much TV. When I’m not writing, I spend all my time with my loved ones.
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
She is fascinated with the Bible, especially the Old Testament with all the ancient history and inexplicable happenings in it. The Seven Wonders of the World, ancient Greece and Rome and how history parallels with many of the stories. She finds information and contradictions she wants to prove or disprove.
Aside from the obvious food and shelter, what 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
All of my main characters are deeply in love and devoted to their wife, so wife because they are miserable when separated, a gun to protect both of them and plenty of ammunition.
One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it. What do they do?
Most of my main characters are married to each other so, when she got home from work, I’d have a nice scented bath ready. Candle around the tub. Wine to sip while I wash her back then just sit on the floor and talk while she relaxes and soaks. I’d have steaks ready to go on the grill, fix dinner for her–more wine–laugh at her funny stories and share mine with her. Then see where things go from there.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!
Everything goes great with Dr. Pepper. It is my favorite drink. We usually celebrate the release of a book by going out to dinner at our favorite Japanese restaurant and drinking warm sake. We rarely drink alcohol but sake is our favorite with Japanese food.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
My parents were big ABBA fans so I was raised on their music and I love it. My character would kick off my book launch party with Super Trouper because no matter what it takes, I always meet my deadlines. For instance my wife received some upsetting news while I was writing “Buried Secrets” and I was pulled away from the book for over a week. She flew home to be with her brother during his surgery and I stayed home with our pets. I wrote thirty-two hours non-stop to get back on track to meet my release date.
