Why this book and why now?
I wanted to share my love for the beautiful place I lived in: Ghent, Belgium. After writing several stories that took place mostly in the US, I wanted to bring the new characters to my home town. This is a romance story, yes, but also a love letter to Ghent.
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
I don’t think I planned for a love-at-first sight story. And yet Worth The Risk became just that. Looking back, I like to think that this was inevitable since the story took place in a city I was in love with.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Nathalie would binge watch a Belgian show called ‘Blind Marriage.’ Couples get married the moment they meet each other and then have to figure out if they can learn to love each other.
One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it. What do they do?
Nathalie can’t wait to organize a romantic breakfast on a little boat in the city center of Ghent. She’s planning to bring all sorts of pastries and, of course, coffee. And a bottle of cava, because Belgians like to start celebrating life very early in the day.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!
Raven would choose a Belgian beer at the celebratory lunch. She’d get an alcohol free one, though, because Belgian beers are not to be underestimated and it’s far from five o’clock!
