Why this book and why now?

As a queer individual living in the state of Florida, my rights are under attack more and more each day. Sew Into You gave me the chance to write Florida as I want to see it- an open and welcoming state where every person is celebrated with love. While Sew Into You is a second chance romance, at its core, it is the start of my love letter to any queer person living in this state (and around the world) who has been looked down on because of who or how they love.

What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?

Absolutely! Imogen and I would have a blast talking about our shared quirky taste in fashion while Esme and I would bond over creating our found families that we hold close to our hearts. And together, we’d all have a blast playing board games and organizing beach days with our friends.

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

Imogen- The Golden Girls. She loves the silly humor and the way that the four main characters remain friends no matter what is thrown at them.

Esme- Disjointed (a Netflix original). Esme is the store manager at a cannabis dispensary and while her life has been very heavy, this laugh out loud comedy about a group of people in her industry keeps her coming back to re-watch again and again.

What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?

Imogen- This Used To Be Easier by Katia Rose. For the amazing puns and small town vibes, it reminds her of childhood moments spent with the woman she loves.

Esme- Something Wild and Wonderful by Anita Kelly. As someone who left her family behind, this book speaks to Esme who is still trying to figure out exactly who she is. The found family vibe gives her hope for the future.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!

Anything that can be stolen from Imogen’s parent’s fridge in honor to the night’s they spent together as teenagers stealing wine coolers from her parents.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

Dancing Queen by ABBA. It’s a central theme throughout the book and is sure to get everyone singing along.
