Why this book and why now?
I had added a throwaway line into my previous release, The Truce, that originally was supposed to be a funny anecdote, but then I became intrigued by the story behind it all, and so I decided to write it. Why now, it seemed to fit to write and release this story right after The Truce, even if it’s a spinoff of my Constellation series instead of the next installment.
Do your character names have special significance or meaning?
When I was done with the first draft, the story didn’t work–one of the leads just didn’t seem right. She was too friendly and warm for what was happening in the story, plus a few plot points also didn’t work. So, I rewrote it (first time ever), and I got lucky as things right away clicked in the rewrite.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
It’s in the books, actually. Claudia loves true crime shows and books. Her favorite show is called “See No Evil.” I have to admit that I hate true crime myself, and so the research into that wasn’t fun. She loves it because she is fascinated by the psychology behind crimes.
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
Elizabeth is reading a lot of crime fiction. She loves the Inspector Gamache series by Louise Penny. Elizabeth is a fan of mysteries and puzzles, so she enjoys stories where she can get lost in, yet still has to think along to solve the riddle before it’s revealed in the book.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
We Didn’t Start the Fire by Billy Joel. Claudia would play that because she’d tease Elizabeth with it and remark on her “advanced age” (it’s a sort of joke between them as Claudia has no issues with their ages, whereas it was a concern for long for Elizabeth.), and Claudia loves teasing Elizabeth.
