Why this book and why now?

This was a story that Mackenzie started on over a year ago, that was quite personal to her, but didn’t get much beyond a couple of chapters (we both help beta read each others works, amongst other things). Fast forward six months, and for some reason I’d thought back to it, and become more than a little enamored with the premise. I had ideas for the characters, where I’d like to take it, and what we could do with it. I penned a number of scenes (about 4k words worth), and sent them her way, along with a whole lot of ideas, and she was kind enough to let me work on the book with her, and take the helm for the writing. I rewrote the first chapter entirely, and then it deviated from there, becoming the story that it is now.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

Given the inspirations for the characters, there would be a lot of initial awkwardness, stammering and shyness, but after that? Far too well. And there definitely be people that they’d want to meet too. We’re not saying which side would be the shy ones ^^

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

Supernatural. It has always appealed to her, and now perhaps it is a lot more relevant than she’d ever thought. And of course she’d want to share it with her lover.

One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.

A romantic dinner (with blood on the side – they are vampires, after all), followed by some dancing (slow and sensual, neither her nor Odette is the rave type), and then back home to cuddle on the sofa and talk.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!

Pepsi Max for Miyako. It’s her signature drink, even after becoming a vampire, and there is something comforting about its familiarity, and she’s in no hurry to change it for anything else, and her and blood have a complicated relationship atm.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

Kingdom Of Cards by Bad Omens. Luna has a certain taste in music, and some of the lyrics fit rather well (others not so much, but you can’t be too picky).
