Luckily our readers like to share! We look forward to passing along these recommendations to you daily into the new year.

It’s not too late to submit your own top reads and get in on the fun. Click here for the form. Our only rules are that authors may not submit their own books and your list needs to be new-to-you books that were read (not necessarily published) in 2023.

Here are Dana’s top sapphic reads of 2023:

1. Scatter by Molly J. Bragg

I love superhero fiction and this is one of the best mixing in a cool time travel plot and dragons.

2. Can’t Spell Treason without Tea by Rebecca Thorne

This is my favorite of all the cozy fantasies I read this year. The world’s most powerful sorceress and a palace guard to an evil queen run away together and open a tea shop.

3. Love or Hate by Rita Potter

I loved this book because I am a Christian and I could see myself as the Christian who falls in love with her opposite, an out progressive lesbian. There is some magic body switching going on between the two which brings them closer to understanding each other. It’s a timely book for today’s divided world.

4. In the Blood of the Greeks by Mary D. Brooks

This is the first book of a series I love about two young women meeting during World War II and their life together after the war. They had to go to great lengths to hide their relationship because it was not acceptable at all in that time period.

5. Talk Nerdy to Me by C. A. Beymer

I am a nerd and this is a romance taking place between a fan and an actress of a hit TV show at a science fiction convention. I loved all the fandom references.

More about the books:

Meet Dana

I am a voracious reader with a love of science fiction and fantasy. From superheroes to cozy fantasy and everything in between. Beyond that first love, my tastes are eclectic. I will read any genre but horror.
