Why this book and why now?
I thought of the idea for this book while I was listening to Taylor Swift’s Midnights album for the first time. I started it during NaNoWriMo in 2022, but then put it on the back burner because I couldn’t decide if I liked it. When I re-read it, I decided I needed to get Brooke and TJ’s story out, so I finished it. Because so much of the book is focused on the end of the night, it felt right for it to come out at midnight as one year turned to the next. Also, credit to Addison Clarke, since it was actually her idea 🙂
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
I would definitely be extremely attracted to my main character, TJ. If I wasn’t happily married, she’s 100% the type of girl I would go for. I always joke that my type is brunettes with baggage, and TJ fits that type perfectly. I would definitely get along with Brooke because she’s so sweet and sincere. Just like Brooke, her brother Mateo would be too nice not to like. Then there’s Candace. Candace is hilarious. I would love to hang out with her just to hear what comes out of her mouth. She has no filter, and I love it.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
TJ would probably binge Chucky. She would joke that it made her feel better about her life because at least she doesn’t have a killer doll after her. She’d also say that it’s less terrifying than her nightmares (if she ever admitted that she had them).
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
TJ would say her favorite book is her own, but in reality, she definitely has a romance book hiding underneath her bed that she reads when she’s in her feels (but if you bring it up, she’ll probably kill you).
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
TJ would definitely put on Pretty Girls by Renee Rapp for my launch party, partially because she loves women and that’s what that song is all about and also because she knows Reneé is my favorite. Even though she’ll never admit it, TJ really does care about the people in her life.
