Why this book and why now?
Ever since I was introduced to the magic of espresso, I became obsessed with the beverage. As a teen, I spent most of my time in coffee shops. Surrounded by the aroma of freshly ground beans and a collectively safe and affirming space, coffee shops held a sort of power for my friends and me. As an adult, I relied on the beverage to help me power through long work meetings, and the coffee shops helped my mind settle after a long week. When I decided to write this book, I knew I wanted to incorporate three things I love the most (outside of my family, of course!): coffee shops, Seattle, and espresso.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
I want the MC, Charlie, to be my best friend! Charlie embodies many things I love in others- patience, kindness, and always trying to look at the positive side. Although, admittedly, her flakiness would annoy me a bit!
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
I actually talked about this in the book! My MC binges Schitt’s Creek. It’s her happy place and a way to destress. Love and positivity fill this show, which gives her all the warm fuzzies needed to grind at her job the next day.
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
My MC would definitely bring her crystals with her if she were stranded from civilization. She is quite the free spirit, and I’m sure she would think the crystals would help protect her and ward off negativity.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Without a doubt, my MC would put on “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore. She is a bit obsessed with him and is determined to meet him and make him her best friend. It’s a little odd, I know. But it makes her even more loveable to hold on to this unattainable goal.
