Pet of the Week!

Helen In Loving Memory

This is Helen. She was adopted from hospice. She only lived 3 weeks with us but they were wonderful. She’s with all of our other babies we’ve had thru the years. Submitted by Tavia, a reader.

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves Columbia, Missouri.

The Columbia, Missouri City Council voted 6-1 to designate the city as a sanctuary for LGBTQ+ individuals.

According to the ordinance, “The City Council affirms that being LGBTQ is not a disorder, disease, illness, deficiency or shortcoming and commits to finding ways to improve social outcomes for LGBTQ Columbians.”

We applaud Columbia, Missouri and we hope this action spreads to other cities.

That’s all for today.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
