Meet Molly!

Meet Molly! She chose me while living with a friend…we were her “other mothers” until the friend decided she couldn’t keep her. We’ve been her moms for 13 of her 13.5 years. This photo was taken just before her 13th birthday. Submitted by Irish, a reader.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves drag queens, kangaroos, and ballet dancers.

The acclaimed international science competition has awarded its top prize to “Kangaroo Time,” a captivating music video showcasing drag queens, kangaroos, and ballet dancers.

Weliton Menário Costa, a queer behavioral ecologist, claimed victory in the “Dance Your Ph.D.” competition, reminiscent of Eurovision. Costa has dedicated years to studying eastern grey kangaroos. Early in life, kangaroos cultivate distinctive personalities shaped by interactions with siblings, parents, and other social groups. Moreover, they exhibit behavioral adaptability, adjusting their actions based on the specific group they are engaging with.

As a member of the LGBTQ+ community and an immigrant, Costa says he understands that dynamic very well.

TB highly recommends checking out the article and watching the YouTube video.

That’s all for today.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
