Why this book and why now?

The journey of healing from trauma is not an easy path. Just as it isn’t a simple thing to trust someone else, it’s not easy to move past the hurt of your past–especially if that hurt is of the violent variety. I wanted to write a story about all the fear, healing, trust, and most importantly bravery that comes from being a survivor.

Would you and your main character(s) get along?

Absolutely. I see myself in both Natalya and Evie, as I feel like I have been both of them just as different points in my life. Emotionally numb and afraid to let someone in, and suspicious and aloof from believing that no one has genuine motives.

What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?

Evie would definitely be a She-Ra fan. And Natalya is way too busy to watch TV (but she would make time to watch whatever Evie wanted to watch).

One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.

Evie would take Natalya somewhere with no audience, but where there was still a stage. A private park at nighttime with a gazebo, where they could be by themselves with no one watching–talking, or dancing most likely.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

Jericho by Iniko. This song almost made it into the manuscript because it perfectly matches Evie’s state of mind when she’s dancing for herself.

Meet Rawnie Sabor

I’m Rawnie and I’ve spent all my life writing stories. Here are some fun facts about me!

1. I started writing in fanfiction and my love for romance was nurtured by deep-diving on Ao3.

2. I can solve a Rubik’s cube, I can do tricks with a yo-yo, and I love playing tabletop roleplaying games (yes, I’m really cool).

3. Every two years, I cut off all my hair and donate it.

4. I have a cat named Chey, who can do tricks! Her talents include spinning in place and giving fist bumps.

5. I don’t drink coffee or tea (this is a massive character flaw, I realize this).

6. I’m Danish. Born and raised in chilly Scandinavia, which means my apartment is cold as an icebox.

7. I got my first job at thirteen, stacking books at my local library.

8. I’m a musical chameleon. I’m always listening to music and I make playlists for every occasion.
