Why this book and why now?
I wrote this book for myself, first of all! I was having a rough time and wanted to write something that was beautifully escapist, full of cosiness, glamour, longing and love. It made me feel better, so I figured I’d share it with others, hoping it would do the same for them too!
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
I’d find her entire world pretty intimidating! But behind all the shiny glamour, surprisingly enough we have a lot in common. We’re both single mamas to spectacularly cute young sons so we definitely get each other. I’d love to get to hang out at her gorgeous winter home in Vermont, so if you’re reading this Savannah, please get your people to talk to my people?
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
She can’t take her private jet? Yikes. She doesn’t exactly rough it these days but she’s pretty simple at heart. As long as she got to take all her favourite people, I think her mama side would take over and she’d pick her son’s favourite book and toy, and a guitar.
One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.
Savannah’s a superstar so it’s pretty hard to plan anything romantic anywhere in public. She’d plan something private, probably on the grounds of her own home to avoid being papped, because she loves the outdoors. Being that her last relationship was extremely public and always being played out for an audience, the height of romance for her now is to have someone love her in all the quiet moments when no one is watching.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
Savannah’s obsessed with Noah Lyman’s ‘Dead Star Ballads’. Oh… you don’t know him? You might not be cool enough. But if you’re anything like Savannah then listening to that album will change the course of your whole damn life.
