5 Random Things is our way of helping readers to get to know top sapphic book authors all the while having a bit of fun.
Here are five random facts about Kelly Farmer.
1. I get a little thrill of excitement every single time I sign a copy of one of my books. It never gets old.
2. My brother and I almost never use one another’s real names. It’s always “Hello, Priscilla.” “Hi, lamppost.” (It doesn’t even have to be a name, haha!)
3. I’m currently growing my short hair out. It’s looking 1980s Pat Benatar, but not as cool. My annoyance at layers that aren’t long enough to pull back made it into Fanning the Flames with Joan’s recent haircut.
4. My favorite dogs are Labrador and golden retrievers. Sweet and silly, active four-legged friends. This is evident in Out on the Ice with Doug, the bestest boy.
5. I don’t love to cook, but I keep writing love interests who do. Perhaps I’m manifesting my own happily ever after with a hot chef, LOL!
Have you read Secret Spark yet?

Before buying a “free” book, please ensure it’s free in your marketplace. Amazon has a habit of changing the price of permafree titles in stores outside of the US. Please know this it out of the author’s control and we are unable to check prices in all Amazon stores.
Some of the books are only free today, January 16, 2026, so don’t miss out!

Meet Princesa! Princesa is the sweetest, most loving girl. She’s a half-breed Iggy and an old lady, don’t let her puppy face fool you, she’s actually 11 years old. Submitted by E. Rosa, a sapphic author.
Today’s post is also sponsored by E.V. Bancroft. Please check out On the Edge of Uncertainty.

HAVE YOU VOTED IN THE LATEST BOOKS OF THE MONTH POLL?
Voting for December Books of the Month closes on January 31.
QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE
It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.
This week’s good news involves New Year’s Eve kiss.
A New Year’s Eve kiss shared by two men in Manhattan’s Times Square drew widespread attention after it was broadcast on ESPN, prompting a visibly startled and somewhat uncomfortable response from the network’s anchor.
The pair say that after a right-wing social media account reposted the clip, they were met with a wave of online harassment, but they also received an outpouring of support. Despite the backlash, they said they were glad their moment offered affirming queer visibility, particularly for viewers in more conservative parts of the country.
One of the men said, “We’ve had a lot of support, with people saying the kiss warmed their hearts, that they were so happy for us or that they needed to see that, especially after this last year.”
Read about it here.
That’s all for today.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
