SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend!

Housekeeping Note: Miranda and TB are out of town for the three-day weekend. Please note, they won’t be reading emails or messages until Tuesday.

Now for today’s post.

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Sapphic reader Deb shares a Caturday photo of an adorable feline who loves blankets.

One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out sapphic fiction author Elisa Greb with Actually Invisible.

Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of TB and Miranda’s visit to Concord.

Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. I’ve had five different careers so far and none of them have been in the field I went to college for, and that includes writing.
2. My cats have silly, ridiculous names. When my wife and I had our wills written, our lawyer delighted in getting to add their full names (and royal titles) into a legal document.
3. I’ve done four playthroughs in the video game Baldur’s Gate III and each time I tried to romance a new companion, but I can’t do it because I feel like I’m cheating on the big cinnamon roll butch character, Karlach, so I end up romancing her again every time.
4. I visited five local Virginia wineries to find the perfect photograph for the cover of one of my 2020 releases. Of course, I had to do a wine tasting at each to be polite. The writing life is so hard.
5. I had the idea for my new book when I took a wrong turn on the same unfamiliar road where my characters get lost in a snowstorm. For the record, I did not get stuck in a cabin with a beautiful woman when it happened to me.

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Tagan Shepard!

Check out Cabin Fever, Tagan Shepard’s new release!

Cover of Cabin Fever

Morgan Allen arrives at her first national trade show expecting to make a splash and a ton of sales.

She didn’t expect her biggest rival, Shelby Howard, to be there, stealing her thunder and all her clients. Why couldn’t Shelby just stay home and let Morgan have this one? After all, Shelby doesn’t believe in her product, not like Morgan does. She’s just successful because she’s charming and magnetic with a killer smile and legs for days.

Still, Morgan has a heart. When a major snowstorm cancels both their flights home and Morgan snags the last rental car, she offers Shelby a ride. That kindness turns into a nightmare when bad cell reception and a missed exit leaves them stranded in a secluded hunting cabin with a wrecked car and no way to call for help.

Get Cabin Fever here.

Tagan Shepard’s bio:

Tagan Shepard (she/her) is the author of eleven books of sapphic fiction, including the 2019 Goldie Winner Bird on a Wire. When not writing about extraordinary women loving other extraordinary women, she can be found playing video games, reading, or sitting in DC Metro traffic. She lives in Virginia with her wife and two ridiculous cats.

Monday kicks off a fresh Guess the Author game!

Queer News Worth Clicking Graphic

TB is determined to spread good rainbow news during 2024, which let’s face, is going to be a rough year. There are a lot of elections all over the world, which means we’re in for a lot of scaremongering. While it’s important to stay informed, it’s also vital not to lose sight of all the kindness in the world. Below are the happy queer stories that made TB smile this week. They’re queer news links worth clicking!

Meet Yaya

Meet my 6.5 year old Sphynx YaYa. She cuddles when SHE wants, loves the sun, watching the birds outside and cuddling in my arms just like a baby. She hates clothing so she has many blankets. Submitted by Deb, a sapphic reader.

Elisa Greb with Actually Invisible

Have you read Actually Invisible by Elisa Greb yet? Here’s the tagline: What happens when choosing visibility can risk your job, your family, and your ambivalence?

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels and find out what sapphic books they’ve brought along!

TB here.

Last month Miranda and I went to Concord, Massachusetts. It’s one of our favorite places in Mass. We visited the Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, walked one of the trails where soldiers fought in 1776, and had brunch at Colonial Inn. I was very excited to find a “boob” tree. Can you spot that photo?

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!

Miranda & TB
