Did you know Napoleon wasn’t as short as everyone thinks?
It’s true! While Napoleon Bonaparte is famous for being short and was measured to be 5’2″ at his death, the myth of his short stature comes from a combination of English propaganda and the fact in this time before the metric system, French inches were larger than English inches. He was actually on the tall side for his era. On this day set aside to recognize short people (and because we are “short” on books with Napoleon in them), we have chosen three books in which children (notorious for being short) play an important role.
