Why this book and why now?
My friend, Sara, who this book is dedicated to, works in education. I’ve been dying to write a book that is age appropriate for her to have in her school library. Why now? Mostly because the idea randomly popped into my head, so I had to run with it.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
High school me and my main character would definitely get along. Mostly because she’s into sports and pretty much down to do whatever. Also, maybe she could have helped high school me come out of the closet!
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
In the book, Marjorie mentions watching The Wilds so I’d say she would definitely binge watch that. Why? Lesbians… duh. Haha.
What 3 things would your main character want with them if they got stranded away from civilization, and why?
A basketball because it’s her favorite sport and she would insist on practicing even if she was stuck, pen and paper to write notes to her secret admirer (even though she wouldn’t actually have a way to get them to her), and probably a sapphic romance novel to help keep her entertained when she’s not practicing basketball.
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
My character would definitely put on “World Wide Party” by JoJo Siwa because it’s a bop. Also, as she puts it, because JoJo Siwa is a “Gaycon.”
