Sapphic Book News, Kerry Lockhart, 19 Books on Sale, Caturday, and More!

SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend!

Saturdays are when we round up all the sapphic book news from the previous week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal queer reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good wlw book. What could be better?

CELEBRATING OUR ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY

The calendar doesn’t lie. No matter how hard it is for TB and Miranda to believe, we just celebrated the one-year anniversary of launching the new I Heart SapphFic website and BookFinder!

There were definitely some times along this journey when we were tempted to toss in the towel. The project became way more time consuming and expensive than we budgeted for. However, our mission for IHS kept us going through the difficult times, and it still spurs us to continue.

Read more about our journey here, and find out how you can help support IHS to grow bigger and better.

CALLING ALL SAPPHIC AUTHORS

Like last year, there will be 2 categories per week so we can feature as many books as possible.

You can submit as many books as you want. We recommend ticking as many boxes that apply for each book to increase the odds of your book being selected. Remember, we can only feature an author once in each category. So submitting 5 books with Ice Queen as the only category means 4 of your books will automatically be excluded. The more data you provide, the better.

We’ll do our best to fit in as many books as we can, but we cannot guarantee a spot for every book submitted.

The sooner you submit your book(s) the better because TB will begin mapping out the categories and books as soon as she starts receiving them. The project usually takes her two months, meaning there’s not a lot of time to waste.

Please note, in order to take part, you must submit the form below. Just having your book in the database doesn’t automatically qualify your book for the reading challenge. There are over 4,600 books in the database, and we only have reading challenge slots for less than half that number. This means, you must fill out the form to have your book(s) in the challenge.

Here’s the 2024 Reading Challenge Submission form.

The submission deadline is December 1, 2023.

NEED A BOOK FOR THE WEEKEND?

If you’re looking for something to read this weekend, below you’ll find 19 books on sale.

Need more choices? Check out the BookFinder, which has more than 4,610 books for you to choose from, ranging from steamy sapphic romance books, ice queen wlw romances, lesfic audiobooks, queer superheroes, best friends to lovers lesbian romances and so much more!

Don’t see your favorite women-loving-women book in the I Heart SapphFic database? Let us know by filling out this form. We’ll take it from there!

Without further ado, let’s get to all the sapphic book news from this past week!

Where the heck was TB?

TB loves exploring places near and far, so we’ve created a weekly game where TB goes on an adventure, snaps some photos, and then lets you guess her location.

To answer last week’s question, 68% of you got it right. TB visited Sterling, Massachusetts. Also, 30% of you clocked TB eating ice cream, even though she’s supposed to be eating better to address some health issues. TB is allowed one cheat meal per week, and while the ice cream wasn’t a meal, she didn’t feel that guilty. Okay, she felt slightly guilty, but it was really good ice cream. And she’s eaten many salads since then.

Now for this week’s guessing game.

This past weekend, TB and Miranda took a day trip in Vermont, stopping at many small and charming towns. This is one of their favorite ways to relax on a weekend.

They took snaps of One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston. It wasn’t technically taken in the same town, but en route to their next destination, they had to make a stop before TB peed her pants. They thought making a pitstop of that type made a funny connection to One Last Stop. Also, if you ever go on a road trip with TB, expect a lot of bathroom breaks.

Here are some clues about one of the towns they explored.

1. It’s a town in Deerfield Valley in the Green Mountains of southern Vermont.

2. In the 2020 census, the town’s population is under 2,500.

3. It was named in commemoration of Spencer Compton, 1st Earl of Wilmington.

4. The town was hit by Tropical Storm Irene on August 28, 2011. In the span of ten hours, 13 inches of rain fell, making it the hardest hit Vermont town during Irene.

5. One year after Tropical Storm Irene, the town had recovered and was thriving. That’s community spirt!

6. Dot’s Diner is one of the best places to have breakfast. TB highly recommends the biscuits and sausage gravy, which have a little spicy kick.

Here are some photos of the town and One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston.

Time to vote on the name of the town.

This poll is no longer accepting votes

What's the name of the town?

Polls close on October 12. The answer will be revealed on October 14.

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!
