Why this book and why now?
The enemies-to-lovers trope is a favorite among readers for its compelling narrative of transformation and growth in relationships. It offers a fresh perspective on how raw, intense emotions can evolve into something beautiful and passionate. I wanted to explore that in Wrath of a King, but within the scope of under-represented FF omegaverse.
What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?
Surprise: this started out as a short story! I wanted to write about a spicy couple that always fought, and it slowly incorporated other elements like powers, friends to enemies to lovers, kidnapping and so on.
One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.
Princess Olympia is a softy at heart. If she’s planning a romantic night, she’s pulling out all the stops by tapping into sweet memories and reliving the past with her best friend/lover. I imagine Olly and Zoei nestled in the rose gardens of Highblade Palace with a basket full of bread and sweet treats. Olly breaks out a sheaf of letters that Zoei sent to her when they were just children, and makes fun of Zoei’s handwriting.
They also invite Zoei’s pup, Emberleigh, to join in the fun.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Zoei’s special smokey gin and tonic. While the new King of Agnivale does not like to drink because it dulls her senses, when she chooses to indulge in something alcoholic, it would have to be the psychopath’s favourite: a gin and tonic. Studies have shown that the influence of gin’s bitter taste is known to elicit harsher moral judgements and interpersonal hostility—both of which Zoei already dishes out in spades.
