Why this book and why now?

Halloween, Baby, yeah. Never wrote a ghost story and challenged myself to do so.

What is a significant way your book has changed since either the first draft or the way you thought it would turn out when you first had the inspiration?

I wanted a ghost short story. I ended up with a novel that has 2 ghost lesbians, 2 live lesbians, and a witch.

What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?

Em’s statue carries a book. It’s not mentioned in the story, but it’s Don Quixote by Cervantes.

One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.

Morti, the witch, plans a romantic night with food. She’ll start with magical stuffed mushrooms, accompanied by a light brew made up in the cellar. Dinner might be mundane but it’ll taste sublime when spiced with her savory sorcery. And dessert is always her infamous angel upside down cake accompanied by enchanted espresso. Her motto: Tantalize the tongue, you want it fully awake and eager.

Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.

Hot spiced rum cider: Heavy on cinnamon for Bea, and an extra tittle of rum for Emmaline. It spans both their centuries from the early 18th through the early 20th, and it holds up pretty darn fine right here in the 21st as well.

What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?

V, masc presenting, ghost hunting, Sapphic author, owner of a doubly haunted house, and intellectual chooses The Dance Macabre, light, funny, and just a little bit eerie.
