As the end of the year draws near, we have one question we want to ask book lovers the world over. What were your top 5 sapphic reads of 2023?

Luckily our readers like to share! We look forward to passing along these recommendations to you daily into the new year.

It’s not too late to submit your own top reads and get in on the fun. Click here for the form. Our only rules are that authors may not submit their own books and your list needs to be new-to-you books that were read (not necessarily published) in 2023.

Here are Eve’s top sapphic reads of 2023:

1. A Calculated Risk by Cari Hunter

An excellent thriller that had me gripped from the beginning. As the main story unfolds a detective and a trauma surgeon are thrown together and the story gets more and more dangerous. However, they get a second chance to support one another and maybe a chance at love. I think we all deserve a second chance!!

2. Broken Beyond Repair by Emily Banting

Demanding actress Beatrice breaks her leg and the media goes mad, so she hides in her country estate. But she needs help. When Sydney’s beloved Gertie breaks down, she takes the job to look after her. I love how Emily in this story softens Beatrice’s heart and makes her realises there is more to life than fame!

3. Vanessa by Melissa Tereze

I love how Melissa takes a very difficult female medical issue and shows that even though there are always anxieties in life, love can conquer all and the steamy scenes show that you can love and be loved. Melissa doesn’t shy away from challenging life traumas and makes me realise we can try to conquer everything.

4. Devil’s Advocate by TB Markinson & Miranda MacLeod

This book shows me that life is never easy. Born into money may make life seem easier but doesn’t make you happy. A traumatic childhood can lead to fighting to be the best that they can achieve. Both can be challenging but if you meet the right person at the right time life can grow to be better than you could ever wish for.

5. Out of the Ashes by Rita Potter

A gripping roller coaster ride, of what a Geologist can still achieve when life gives them a challenging medical condition. Then an even greater challenge when and old flame comes back into your life and then everything literally erupts around you. I love Rita’s books and this is another challenging example of what life can throw at you literally!!

More about the books:

Meet Eve

I love reading!! I love strong female leads, sometimes with surprising twists and turns. I also love a good sapphic romance that you can escape into with a HEA. But I can also identify and really love authors with books that show me life’s ups and downs, that we can all get there given positive opportunities and maybe have a happy ever after!!!! Did I say I love reading!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
