Here are Patricia’s top sapphic reads of 2023:

1. Future Wife by Nicole Pyland

Great storyline. Sci-fi light as in character development than scientific theories. I enjoyed reading this book and wanted more.

2. For the Love of Life by Sue Graham

I was transported to the safari in this book. It had such vivid descriptions that I felt I was right there on the game farm. Great characters and story development.

3. Falling for Who by Erica Lee

Young Adult romance set in high school. I love the rom-com feel to this book. Very entertaining.

4. Chasing Shadows by Lila Bruce

A entertainingly funny paranormal romance. I loved all the main and side characters in this book. They were all colourful and amusing. The storyline had a good plot twist too. It was the most recent book I finished. I am still smiling about it. It kind of reminded me of the Alison Naomi Holt’s colourful array of characters in her “Credo” – Alex Wolfe Mystery book series.

5. Crush by Ana Hartnett Reichardt

I enjoyed learning about the wine making industry. It was fascinating, along with the sweet love story. The author wrote what she knew and loved and it showed through in this book. I loved the Pacific North West references such as: Deschutes Black Butte Porter – which I agree is excellent; and the comment about Brandi Carlile –“Is there a lesbian on earth who doesn’t like her?” I liked the play on the word ‘crush’ too.
