SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend!

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Sapphic author Pip Landers-Letts shares a Caturday photo of a beautiful helper.

One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out sapphic fiction author Alexis Westmore with the book Follow The Money.

Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of TB and Miranda’s visit to Hershey Gardens to see one of TB’s favorite things on this planet.

Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. I learned to fly airplanes when I was nineteen, but my instructor sent me up for a solo without telling me how to correct a stalled plane, and yes, yours truly accidentally put the plane into a stall!
2. When I told my brother I was a lesbian, his only comment was, “Well, duh.”
3. I tried writing poetry in College, but I was so bad at it that one of my professors suggested I change my major to anything other than Creative Writing.
4. I was a commander of a major metropolitan police department, and I used my experiences to write one of my series.
5. I write about strong and capable women who are flawed but loveable and always find a happy ever-after ending in their lives.

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Alison Naomi Holt!

Alison Naomi Holt’s bio:

“They whispered to her, you can’t withstand the storm. She whispered back, I am the storm.” ~ Unknown

I grew up listening to my parents reading me the most wonderful books full of adventure, heroes, ducks, and curly-tailed pigs. I promote reading wherever I go and believe literacy is the key to changing the world for the better.

Along those lines—the changing the world for the better part—I have always believed that there is a strong, capable warrior inside every girl and woman in the world. I try to use my platform as an author to empower all womenkind by creating strong women warriors in my novels whose lives aren’t perfect but who stand up for themselves and their sisters, no matter what difficult challenges life throws their way.

Together, women can change the world for the better. Whether the world we change is no bigger than the block we live on or the children we raise or whether we change entire communities, women can and do make a difference. Believe in yourself. I do.

If you want to know a little about me, my previous life as a cop gave me a bizarre sense of humor, a realistic look at life, and an insatiable desire to live life to the fullest. I love all horses & hounds and some humans…

Queer News Worth Clicking Graphic

TB is determined to spread good rainbow news during 2024, which let’s face, is going to be a rough year. There are a lot of elections all over the world, which means we’re in for a lot of scaremongering. While it’s important to stay informed, it’s also vital not to lose sight of all the kindness in the world. Below are the happy queer stories that made TB smile this week. They’re queer news links worth clicking!

Dozens of small towns hosted their first Pride events this year — More rainbows on display!

Bisexual icon Sha’Carri Richardson graces the cover of Vogue ahead of the Paris Olympics — Fierce!

School district ejects board members who voted to ban Pride flags — Wonderful news!

Gay drag car racer scored a big win during Pride Month — So happy for him!

Nonbinary representation in government is on the rise with a record number of out elected officials — Fantastic, but we need more rep for all queer folks!

Meet Mouse

Meet Mouse! Mouse is my Chief Marketing Officer and whilst she’s pleased with book sales so far, she feels we could do more as she’d like a tuna-flavoured-pay-rise. Submitted by Pip Landers-Letts, a sapphic author.

Alexis Westmore with the book Follow the Money

Have you read Follow The Money by Alexis Westmore yet? Here’s the tagline: When their worlds collide, there is more than attraction that entangles their lives.

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels!

TB here.

I love butterflies! So, when I learned Hershey Gardens was next to the Hershey amusement park in Pennsylvania, I agreed to go to the amusement park with Miranda. She frigging loves rollercoasters and I’m not a huge fan. I used to be in my younger days, but the older I get, the more rollercoasters make me dizzy. Getting older has some downsides. But agreeing to go to the amusement park was a decent tradeoff so the next day I could spend an hour with the butterflies. It was magical!

Here are some photos of beauties.

Have a wonderful weekend!
