SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend!

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Sapphic reader Shani shares an adorable Caturday photo.

One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out sapphic fiction author Aricka Alexander with the book Down South Bayou.

Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of TB and Miranda’s visit to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania, which isn’t just a place to eat chocolate like TB thought.

Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. I published my first ever novel in 2022 after challenging myself over Covid lockdown to do something I’d never done before.
2. Being trans myself, it’s really important to me that my characters show quality representation for different groups – trans people especially.
3. My first book involved a hacker falling in love with her victim and a cat with major attitude. It was set around Essex.
4. I live in the South of England, although I come originally from near Birmingham, which features in my new release.
5. My new book stars a school site manager and a teacher coming to grips with their respective upbringings… and finding love along the way.

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Chloe Keto!

Check out Caretaking Love, Chloe Keto’s new release!

Cover of Caretaking Love

Sometimes love works best complemented by tools, paint and plenty of books…

Vic Davies is good with her hands. As school site manager, that’s expected. Georgia Smith-Ashfield lives for literature and her focus on her career.

What happens when a confident butch’s mistake ignites a redhead’s lust? Will pride block them or will someone recognise that cat cuddles alone can’t complete her?

Get Caretaking Love here.

Chloe Keto’s bio:

Chloe Keto is a new author but a longtime passionate fan of the romantic WLW genre. She lives at home in the south of England with her wife and two nearly teenage football loving children.

Her stories are home to strong but authentic Sapphic characters who thrive on being authentically themselves. Authentic Transgender representation is a passion of Chloe’s, sometimes borrowing a little from her own background. She believes that all stories can be improved with a good dose of romantic magic, especially our own!

Monday kicks off a fresh Guess the Author game!

Queer News Worth Clicking Graphic

TB is determined to spread good rainbow news during 2024, which let’s face, is going to be a rough year. There are a lot of elections all over the world, which means we’re in for a lot of scaremongering. While it’s important to stay informed, it’s also vital not to lose sight of all the kindness in the world. Below are the happy queer stories that made TB smile this week. They’re queer news links worth clicking!

The forced outing of queer students is now illegal in California’s public schools — Never should have been legal, but a great step forward!

Gay couple in South Korea receives state benefits, marking huge step towards LGBTQ+ equality — Wonderful recognition!

Small town makes history by electing its first gay mayor — Congrats!

Ohioans explain abandoning Republican Party for love of their transgender grandchild — Compassion goes a long way and the video is extremely moving.

Lewis Hamilton praises Ralf Schumacher after former F1 star comes out — It helps to have support!

Meet Loula

Meet Loula! I’m housesitting for Loula’s parents while they are on vacation. They described a charming girl but I discovered upon arrival that it is, in fact, a boy. I have since then branded her as a “Trans-Cat” and her parents are very happy to go along with this tag 🙂 Submitted by Shani, a sapphic reader.

Aricka Alexander with Down South Bayou

Have you read Down South Bayou by Aricka Alexander yet? Here’s the tagline: Ball Hard. Love Harder.

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels!

TB here.

During our recent vacation, we spent 4 days in Pennsylvania. While there, we visited Hershey Park. I think when it was suggested, I envisioned simply eating chocolate. Imagine my surprise when we arrived and I discovered rollercoasters, a zoo, waterpark, and a massive store (with lots of candy so this was my favorite part of the visit).

We were there when it was blistering hot and humid, as you can see in one of the photos with the sun off to the side. Part of the time, I used a rainbow umbrella to protect me from the rays. All in all, I’m glad we went, but it’s not high on my list of places to revisit. So many people being very people-y.

Here are some photos.

Have a wonderful weekend!
