Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s Friday Feels Fun post, it’s time for Guess the Author

Every week, we’ll provide five clues about a sapphic author. This game helps readers get to know their favorite authors while having fun.

Here is today’s clue:

Clue #5: My new release showcases a second-chance romance between main characters in their fifties. Don’t be afraid to hop on the Tardis and travel back in time. You might find it more like the present than you’d have imagined.

5 Random Things is our way of helping readers to get to know top sapphic book authors all the while having a bit of fun.

Here are five random facts about Chad J. Maske.

1. I go by PhoenixFang on the internet for the most part. I consider it my alter ego at this point, enough so that I went and got art done for said alter ego.

2. I’m a peanut butter and pineapple addict, not together, just in general.

3. Top three of my tier list of mythological creatures are, 1. Kitsune, 2. Phoenix’s, 3. Dragons!

4. I have a penchant for mischief with people I’m comfortable around. Might be why Kitsune are #1 on my tierlist in #3.

5. I always have to be doing something with my hands. Even if I’m sitting and watching a movie I’ll have something in my hands to fidget with.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves a small Iowa town.

A handful of years ago, when covid was surging, Darin Beck came out as gay. Before he retired, he was owner of a restaurant group with restaurants and bars in Cedar Falls and Iowa City. He married his husband two years after coming out.

Years ago, he never thought he’d open the Rail Station, a gay bar in Waterloo, Iowa.

“It’s refreshing and liberating,” he said about this new venture. “I was never, you know, ashamed or anything. I lived a straight life in the straight world. Guys like me didn’t come to places like this.”

Drag queen Jessi Jade-Michaels had this to say, “For a lot of people within the LGBT community, they can’t walk into (other bars) holding another guy’s hand or another girl’s hand without the whole bar looking,” adding, “This is the spot where they can.”

The bar opened in time for Waterloo Pride Fest.

That’s all for today.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
