QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE
It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.
This week’s good news involves a lawyer.
On December 4, in the case U.S. v. Skrmetti, Chase Strangio is set to become the first openly transgender lawyer to argue before the Supreme Court. The outcome will have a significant impact on transgender rights in the U.S. for years to come.
He played a key role in the landmark Obergefell v. Hodges case, which legalized same-sex marriage nationwide. He also contributed to Bostock v. Clayton County, the Supreme Court case that secured protections for LGBTQ+ workers, and has worked on challenges to North Carolina’s H.B. 2, a law targeting trans rights, as well as former President Donald Trump’s ban on transgender individuals serving in the military.
Best of luck fighting the good fight!

That’s all for today.
Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
