As a community of authors and readers, the issue of plagiarism is close to our hearts.
Stealing the words of another author and passing them off as your own, especially in the hopes of personal profit, is a serious ethical violation. It can also be illegal, although laws vary drastically by country and make it frustratingly hard to enforce and prosecute. Recently, a new variation of plagiarism has come to light in sapphic publishing in the form of translation piracy. This is where English language books by legitimate sapphic authors are run through a low-quality AI translation software by a thief and put up for sale in a different language under a fake pen name that is totally unauthorized. If you run across a book you suspect has been stolen, please contact the original author to alert them to the fraud!
To observe this day, we have chosen three books about characters involved in the publishing industry.
