Why this book and why now?
I hadn’t written a “roommates to lovers” book in a LONG time and I was itching to try it again! Originally, I had a completely different idea of who Sydney would have chemistry with, but when I was writing the previous book, it hit me that it should be Sydney and Lark. I had to redo my series planning, but it was definitely the right decision.
Would you and your main character(s) get along?
Sydney can be a LOT as a person, but so can I, so I think we’d mesh. Lark is fun and a little bit of a mess, so we’d definitely have that in common. They’re both very content with staying home and chilling on the couch, which is one of my favorite ways to hang out.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Sydney and Lark end up watching “that lesbian baseball show” in the book. If you know, you know.
One of your main characters is planning a romantic night. Tell us about it.
Sydney has a tendency to go over the top, so I picture her setting up the apartment with candles and rose petals and chocolate and strawberries and champagne and just going above and beyond doing every single possible romantic thing she can think of to the point of it being excessive. Lark would say how much she appreciated it, but would secretly be wishing for something a little more toned-down.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book.
Sydney and Lark decide to do shots and the only thing Sydney has on hand is pineapple tequila, so that plays quite the role in the book. I actually can’t drink tequila, but my favorite drink of all time is a pina colada, so that’s what I’d be whipping up to have!
