Sword swallowing was brought to us about 4,000 years ago by the same fakirs and shaman priests in India who came up with walking on hot coals barefoot and handling deadly snakes as a test of power and faith.
We can only imagine what it must’ve been like to attend a party at their houses back in the day. During the 1800s, sword swallowers became instrumental in helping physicians conduct important research on the human gastrointestinal system and aided in the invention of the endoscope.
To commemorate this unusual talent, we have chosen three books with the word sword in the title.
