Why this book and why now?
I am a huge fan of disaster movies/books, and I wanted to write something I hadn’t seen before. I Googled natural disasters and Mount St. Helens came up. After I started researching, I was hooked.
Would you and your main character(s) get along? Why, or why not?
Of all the characters I have written, Nova “Cano” Kane is probably the one that I most want to hang out with. She has so many traits I enjoy. Mischievous. Rebellious. Intelligent, after all she is a volcanologist. And underneath it all, she has a heart of gold. Oh, and did I mention, she rides a motorcycle. What’s not to love.
What TV show would your main character(s) most likely binge watch and why?
Cano and Allie would binge The Facts of Life. Don’t forget it’s set in the 1980’s.
What’s your main character(s)’s favorite book and why?
Since both Cano and Allie are volcanologists, it would be something geeky and boring. Some sort of geological textbook.
Publishing a book is a huge accomplishment and it’s time to party! Choose a celebratory beverage for one of your main characters to toast the release of your new book!
It would be Starbucks coffee, even though Cano thinks it’s a stupid name for a coffee shop and will never catch on. Remember the story is set in 1980!
What song does your character put on to start your book launch party?
This is an easy one. Being a second chance romance, the song that chokes Cano up every time is “I’m Sorry” by John Denver. Once again, I remind you, it is set in 1980 :).
