Here are five random facts about Lyn Denison.

1. I once met Dame Barbara Cartland, considered to be the Queen of Romance, who wrote over 700 books with estimated sales of over two billion copies. She was also Princess Diana’s step grandmother.

2. Books have been a huge part of my life, as a reader, a librarian and a writer.

3. I changed schools six times, including four times during high school. I have been known to use this fact shamelessly when debating grammar, etc, with editors and beta readers. Tenses can have me needing a comfy couch and a damp cloth for my forehead.

4. I’ve spent years researching my family history. Haven’t unearthed anyone ‘famous’, just good, solid ‘salt-of-the-earth people. However, my grandfather was awarded an MBE for his work with Returned Servicemen and one of my great grandmothers outlived four husbands.

5. I am an AFOL, an adult fan of Lego. It began with a train set which Santa Claus never delivered no matter how often I asked. I now have a designated Lego room with an expanding Legolynville.

QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves Pedro Pascal and his trans sister.

Pascal attended the Emmys with Lux, his sister, who is a trans woman. The siblings smashed it on the red carpet.

He’s said that his sister “is and has always been one of the most powerful people and personalities I’ve ever known.” He has also said, “My protective side is lethal, but I need her more than she needs me.”

Pascal is a strong ally of the LGBTQ+ community. He also has a friendship with Bella Ramsey, a nonbinary actor who was in The Last of Us with Pascal. According to reports, the show will be back in 2025 with more queer storylines.
