Happy weekend!

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Sapphic reader KJ shares a Caturday photo of a queenly cat.

One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out the picture of Cheryl Rainfield with the book VISIONS.

Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. My human physiology teacher in Mississippi encouraged me to become a surgeon because I performed fabulous dissections. I reminded her that an embalmed fetal pig wasn’t a live human and never pursued a career in medicine.
2. The first series I published got great reviews but lacked robust sales. I suppose Renaissance Italy isn’t sapphic readers’ favorite setting, despite all those paintings of women with their ermines.
3. My first novel, initially published in 2018, features three strong women who set the course of history. (Well, one did for sure, anyway.)
4. I often stopped at Travel America in Troutville, Virginia, just outside Roanoke, until some stupid people tore it down. Don’t they understand the US doesn’t have enough truck stops?
5. My new release showcases a second-chance romance between main characters in their fifties. Don’t be afraid to hop on the Tardis and travel back in time. You might find it more like the present than you’d have imagined.

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Edale Lane!

Check out Atlantis, Land of Dreams, Edale Lane’s new release!

A handful of heroes; an impending cataclysm. Can Ariel and her friends save the world as they know it?

Communicating with plants and animals has become a rare gift, one Ariel cherishes. She loves her farm and her family, especially her three-hundred-year-old oma. As she grapples to preserve her connection with the spirit world, she realizes something is dreadfully wrong.

Lysandra, a gifted healer, lives in the most splendid city in the world, overflowing with culture and prosperity. Despite her meaningful career, she misses the love of her youth whom she left behind. Now something is causing more illnesses and deaths at increasingly younger ages than typical for Atlantans.

When both Ariel and Lysandra are called to the Ring of Stones for a meeting of scholars, masters, and gifted individuals, they reunite for the first time in thirty years. Pushing personal feelings aside, they must focus on discovering what’s wrong with their world and help fix it. Making a startling discovery, Ariel brings an ominous report to the council. Can the sharpest minds and most compassionate hearts of Atlantis create a plan to save their civilization, or is it doomed to be obliterated from the face of the earth forever?

Captivating storyteller Edale Lane brings you an epic historical fantasy warmed with a second-chance sapphic romance. Atlantis, Land of Dreams, will transport you to a world of wonder and imagination, where myths of the past come to life and inspire a brighter vision for our future. Get ready to embark on an unforgettable journey of discovery and marvel at the beauty and magic of this legendary place that has captured the hearts and minds of generations.

Cheryl Rainfield with the book Visions graphic

Have you read VISIONS by Cheryl Rainfield yet? Here’s the tagline: Kate sees visions that could save others—but doing so could kill her.

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels!

TB here.

A couple of weekends ago, we went to Boston to see an Auschwitz exhibit. When Miranda made these plans, I said I’d need some happiness afterward and suggested getting lunch and then cannolis in the North End.

As it turned out, there was an Italian festival going on in the North End that day and there were cannoli stands everywhere.

Below are photos from our day in Boston, including a stroll through the Common, which is one of my favorite places to walk in the city.

Have a wonderful weekend!
