SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend!

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Jude Silberfeld-Grimaud, a sapphic reader, shares a Caturday photo of a sweet ginger.

One of the things we love about the weekly author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out the picture of Sally Brooks with The Barcelona Bakery.

If you’re looking for something to read this weekend, below you’ll find 18 books on sale.

Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of Pride in Salem, Massachusetts.

Guess the Author GraphicIt’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. In my 20s, when I was determined to become a professional photographer, an astrologer insisted I was a writer.

2. After years of professional writing in marketing and quasi-journalism, I got bit by the fiction bug when I turned 50.

3. I took one English class in college, but my biology degree has come in handy.

4. I’ve held way more than the five careers said to be the average, including zoo keeper, newspaper delivery, and bookstore manager.

5. The idea for my most recent book came from a lifelong curiosity about biology, evolution, being human, and what if women (finally) ruled the world?

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Elaine Burnes!

Check out Resolution, Elaine Burnes’s new release!

The exciting conclusion to the space adventures of Captain Lyn Randall pulls her from retirement and sends her on her most daring adventure yet into unknown space as she tries to answer the question, what does it mean to be human?

Lyn Randall takes a break from her job at Randall Restoration to captain a secret mission on a ship that is not headed for outer space but to the depths of an ocean. A vessel, not of this world, has been discovered in the deep murky waters. Lyn and a crew of specialists discover that the ship has been there for several hundred thousand years and had once carried the common ancestors of humans and the people of Gaia.

Lyn’s retirement from space travel is once again disrupted as she leads a joint expedition with Gaia to find their shared planet of origin. Of course, nothing is easy when the politics of two planets, classified secrets, uneasy alliances, not to mention Lyn’s marital troubles with her wife, Diana, add to the perilous nature of this adventure of a lifetime.

Captain Lyn Randall and her faithful crew embark on their most daring adventure yet into unknown space as they try to answer the question, once and for all, what does it mean to be human?

Get Resolution here.

Elaine’s bio:

Elaine Burnes writes stories about women who are bold, flawed, and love other women. An introvert, she loves writing but not promoting that writing. She is the award-winning author of the sapphic space adventure novels Endurance, Tenacity, and Resolution (Captain Randall series), the contemporary-novel Wishbone, and her short-story collection A Perfect Life and Other Stories. When not imagining adventures in outer space, she can be found wrestling with invasive plants and rogue mice in western Massachusetts.

On our first day of our staycation, we headed to Salem, Massachusetts for Pride. It’s our favorite place to attend Pride because it’s just so much fun. Everyone is in a good mood and there are so many rainbow witches. The world needs more rainbow witches.
