National Good Samaritan Day is a day to celebrate and encourage selflessness and kindness.
Today’s celebration has a sad origin. On March 13, 1964 Catherine (Kitty) Genovese was murdered in New York City. It is believed if someone on the street had intervened during the attack, Catherine may have lived. Today is a reminder to offer help strangers in need as often as we can. A smile can brighten someone’s day. Helping an elderly neighbor carry in their groceries can be a bigger help than we might imagine. It doesn’t take much to make a difference.
Today we are bringing you three sapphic books that include main characters who are social workers since their job is to help people in need.
