Happy weekend!
Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?
In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.
Sapphic reader Judy shares an adorable Caturday photo.
One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out sapphic fiction author Merlina Garance with Mending Bones.
Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of TB’s recent drive to the seaside and she took Searching for the Spark by Kaya LaSalle.
Before we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!
Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.
Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:
1. I’ve had many careers, training to be a psychologist, being a teacher and then a journalist, before settling down to become an author in 2020.
2. I grew up all over the world, thanks to my dad’s job. English is my mother tongue, but not my only tongue, and I don’t currently live in an English speaking country.
3. Fortunately, I didn’t have to learn to play an instrument for my newest release, I’ve played the piano since I was five.
4. On the night I asked my wife to marry me, she was sure I was about to break up with her. We’ve been married for 4 years now, she’s French but speaks better English than me.
5. I wrote my first book when I was six. My dad illustrated it, but I had to fire him because he couldn’t draw owls.
Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…
This week’s author is Sienna Waters!
Check out Play It Again, Ma’am, Sienna’s new release!
Is music really the food of love?
Barmaid Jules needs to learn the piano stat, musician Billie’s the only teacher in town. It should be a match made in heaven, if only they didn’t hate each other. Or love each other. One or the other…

Sienna’s bio:
I’ve always loved romance, any kind of romance. But growing up, I could never find the exact kind of romance I wanted, the kind of romance about people like me. So I decided to write it myself.
My books are about two people falling in love, just like all romances are. But in my case, those two people just happen to both be women. And all my stories have a happy ending, because I truly believe that there’s a happy ending out there waiting for everyone.
When I’m not writing I’m spending far too much time online shopping, trying to persuade my cats to dress up, and trying to persuade my wife that I’m not as crazy as I sometimes appear (she believes this about half the time, the other half of the time she just puts up with me with endless patience).

Without further ado, let’s get to all the weekly queer news!
TB is determined to spread good rainbow news during 2024, which let’s face, is going to be a rough year. There are a lot of elections all over the world, which means we’re in for a lot of scaremongering. While it’s important to stay informed, it’s also vital not to lose sight of all the kindness in the world. Below are the happy queer stories that made TB smile this week. They’re queer news links worth clicking!
Japanese high court rules same-sex marriage ban unconstitutional — Let’s hope they make same-sex marriages legal soon!
Military will soon cover IVF services for LGBTQ+ veterans & servicemembers — Fantastic!

We love sharing things that’ll make people smile, which is why we’ve started asking for good news from the IHS community.
Today is Miranda MacLeod’s 50th birthday! Fun fact (for TB), way back in 2018, TB started saying to Miranda, “You’re going to be 50 soon.” Considering at the time Miranda was 44, she didn’t really like that. TB found it funny. And, it became a thing to say. Now TB can officially say, “Dude, you’re 50!”
It should be noted, TB will be turning 50 this May and neither of them think 50 is old.
