It’s a wonderful weekend away from IHS headquarters!
Saturdays are when we round up all the sapphic book news from the previous week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal lesfic directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good women loving women book. What could be better?
TB & Miranda are currently in New Jersey at a GCLS event. It’s their first in-person event of 2023 and they’re pretty excited to meet up with writing friends in real life. Although, TB is notoriously shy and she’s agreed to be on a panel. Send her stay calm juju. Last summer, when they were at the GCLS conference in Alburquerque, they had to go on stage to accept an award for The AM Show. TB wanted Miranda to accept the award for both of them, but Miranda wanted TB to at least be on stage. TB agreed after saying, “I won’t say a word. You have to do all the talking.” Miranda agreed but then turned to TB at the end of her speech saying, “Do you want to say anything?” TB mumbled a thank you and she still hasn’t forgiven Miranda for the betrayal. They had a deal!
One of our big goals in 2023 is to add an additional three thousand books to our database. Right now, it already has over 3k. If there’s a book you absolutely love, but it’s not in our database, please let us know. How can you find out if a book is in the database? Click on the magnifying glass icon at the top of the page to go to the search bar. Type the title or author you want to find into the search bar and see what pops up. If the title has a lot of common words in it, put quote marks around it to narrow your search. If the book isn’t in the database, click here to fill out a simple form. We’ll take it from there!
We’ve been trying to build up certain categories, including, but not limited to horror, steampunk, middle grade, memoirs, nonfiction, mermaids, and so many more. We want the database to include all sapphic books. It’s a big goal, but we truly believe it’s vital to have representation in the world and we want to make it easier for readers to find themselves in books. Nearly every day we come across people who only just discovered sapphic fiction exists, or who have read the couple of titles available to them at their bookstore or library and assume they’ve “read it all.” This is one time it’s great to be wrong!
Without further ado, let’s get to all the sapphic book news from this past week!

Our cat Wireman is the man of the house. He’s covered in hearts, raised by greyhounds, a loving but lethal 5-lb machine in his outside days. But after he went missing for two months before we got a call he was living it up behind a Boston Market, he’s now an inside kitty. Bonus points if you can name the Stephen King book my ex and I got his name from! Submitted by author S.E. Chandler.
