Here are Carol Anne Douglas’s top sapphic reads of 2023:
1. Integrity by E.J. Noyes
It was a very good political adventure story.
2. Extended Capacity by Elena Graf
It is a gripping novel about a school shooting. It continues the author’s well-developed Hobbs series.
3. Darkness Unknown by KC Luck
The novel continues Luck’s well-conceived Darkness Series about a world in which there is no electricity because of strange solar phenomena.
4. Once in Berlin by Jo Havens
A fine novel set in Berlin in the beginning of the Nazi era. One of the characters is a very well portrayed scientific genius.
5. Miserere by Caren Werlinger
I was moved by this story’s movement between two eras, both very well developed. She handles questions of race sensitively.
