QUEER NEWS THAT’LL MAKE YOU SMILE

It can seem sometimes like all the news these days is bad. We won’t deny there’s a lot of troubling things going on, including a rise in hate crimes. But it’s not all terrible out there! We want to do our best to highlight good news, because while it may seem like the world is filled with hate, there are many individuals who are living their best lives with a rainbow in their heart.

This week’s good news involves the Australian foreign minister.

A reader sent us this happy news. We love hearing these stories from all over the world, so if you’ve got something to report from where you are, please let us know by using this form so we can share it with everyone. We simply want more happiness in this life!

Now, in Jo’s own words (the reader who shared this delightful news):

It’s politics, but it’s Aussie politics, and Penny Wong is essentially every Aussie lesbian’s (and many other people’s) pick for Prime Minister. Penny is currently Australia’s Foreign Affairs Minister (equivalent to Secretary of State in US government). Penny and Sophie, partners of twenty years, finally tied the knot last weekend with their two daughters as flower girls. I find their marriage particularly wonderful as Penny had been obliged by the duties of her party in the past to postpone the marriage equality debate in Australia which must have been a difficult and painful decision. Congratulations to the happy couple.

That’s all for today.

Wishing all of you a wonderful Friday!
