Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. My first foray into creative writing was an elective class in high school. One of my works was a poem about a bruised apple. I’m a lot less emo now.
2. I am an avid reader of romance and while I normally stick to sapphic lit, I will occasionally slip in a Nora Roberts, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, or similar as a throwback to my youth.
3. I draw significant inspiration for locations, careers, character traits, conflicts, etc. from my careers in the military as well as in commercial real estate.
4. After a lifelong desire to write sapphic romance, I finally started writing shortly after the start of the COVID 19 pandemic put the world in lockdown.
5. My recent release was inspired both by my time serving under Don’t Ask Don’t Tell as well as my wife’s recent Army deployment.

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Krystina Rivers!

Fifteen years, countless miles: a sapphic love story defying time and duty.

Sydney meets Reagan in an Italian café when Reagan helps her order. Instant best friends, they spend an idyllic fall sightseeing until Sydney’s semester abroad comes to an end and she returns to the States. Reagan’s a young Army second lieutenant living under Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell and must stay behind and complete her assignment. But their final night together—complete with a first kiss—lives on in Sydney’s mind.

Over the next fifteen years, Reagan and Sydney ricochet in and out of each other’s lives, with each parting leaving deeper longings and scars than the last. When DADT is repealed and they both end up in Washington, DC, it’s a chance for Reagan to finally win the heart of the woman she has always loved, if only the Army didn’t threaten to send them to opposite sides of the world once again.

An epic love story that traverses the complexities of duty, loyalty, and sacrifice across the decades, Sydney and Reagan know what their hearts want, but love keeps slipping through their fingers.

Krystina Rivers’ bio:

Krystina has been a lover of romance novels since she was probably too young to read them and developed an affinity for sapphic romance after she found her first one on a shelf in a used bookstore in 2001. Despite a lifelong desire, she never made the time to write her own until the COVID-19 pandemic struck, and she had extra time with no daily commute or work travel.

Krystina grew up in Florida but, after spending six years in the military, finds herself now calling Chicago home – though she frequently travels so often for work that she forgets what city she’s in. She works in real estate and lives with her wife and their two pit bulls. When not working, traveling, or writing, Krystina can be found reading with a glass of wine in hand, doing yoga (occasionally with a glass of wine in hand), snuggling with her fur-babies, or trying to convince herself that it’s not too cold to go for a jog outside.

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels!

TB here.

A couple of weekends ago, Miranda invited me to a polo match. It’s not a sport I’ve ever attended. But it wasn’t simply a match. There was also a tailgating contest. The theme was tea party since the match was the USA v England.

Miranda loves getting dressed up. That fact I knew about her. What I learned by attending this tailgating experience is she also loves to set up an elaborate tea for tailgating. It blew my mind. She reimagined the Madhatter’s tea party from Alice in Wonderland set in the 1950s

As for the match, England won by scoring in the final minute. I didn’t realize how exciting polo could be.

Here are some photos from the day.

Have a wonderful weekend!
