Happy weekend!

The first work week of 2023 is in the books. How in the heck did that happen? TB just rediscovered the Peanuts One a Day Calendar she bought herself a few months back on January 5th, so she’s feeling like she’s been robbed of four days of happiness. Miranda’s been working nonstop on to-do lists to help keep TB more organized. This might be a losing battle, but everyone please wish Miranda luck on this quest.

Join the 2023 I Heart SapphFic Reading Challenge

The challenge runs from January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2023. You can join at any point during the 365-day span just by picking up a book and starting to read.

To promote the widest variety of women-loving-women stories, the IHS team has selected 100 categories, ranging from age-gap romance to sci-fi, and everything in between.

IHS will feature two categories each week (50 weeks in total) and will share a list of book suggestions on our website. Some of them will even be on sale!

Where the heck was TB?

TB loves exploring places near and far, so we’ve created a weekly game where TB goes on an adventure, snaps some photos, and then lets you guess her location.

To answer last week’s mystery, 28% of you were right. I stumbled upon Nubble Light in Maine. Also, 42% of you think I’m the type to fall into the ocean. I didn’t on this day because I’ve learned from another unfortunate time when I got too close to the edge.

Now for this week’s guessing game.

On the day I visited Nubble Light, I was inspired and sought out another Maine lighthouse.

Here are some facts about the second lighthouse.

1. This historic lighthouse is located in Cape Elizabeth, Maine.

2. It sits at the entrance of the main shipping channel into Portland Harbor.

3. In 1787, construction began at the directive of George Washington. It wasn’t finished until January 10, 1791.

4. The original sources of light were whale lamps.

5. Edward Hopper’s watercolor of the lighthouse, painted in 1927, resides at Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts.

6. The lighthouse appeared in three seasons of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
