SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend!

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Sapphic reader Jenny shares a Caturday photo of an adorable cat who got a second chance in life.

One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out the picture of Liz Arncliffe’s cat with the book Southern Lights.

Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of TB and Miranda’s trip to Mark Twain’s house.

Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. Swimming morning laps in nine feet of water is the perfect location to focus on my current or next writing project without life’s distractions.
2. I’ve owned Subaru Outbacks since 1994. My current one is seven years old and going strong, but I’d love a plug-in hybrid version.
3. I was accepted into art school, but ended up with a DVM degree because it was a sure way to make a living and I love animals.
4. I have a canine coauthor who handles the delete button and when deemed necessary, he shuts down the entire screen. Somehow, I managed to slip Oscar the cat into my first book.
5. This new book features a veterinarian and the paralegal from my first March 2024 book, as well as a dog named Einstein and a feline, Sunny. My third book is coming in December 2024 and includes not only a rescue dog, but also an office tarantula.

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Julia Underwood!

Has the grumpy vet met her sunshine match?

The dahlia represents love, devotion, dignity, and beauty in Victorian floriography. Piper’s new boss, Dahlia? One out of four—Dal is beautiful and that’s where the similarities end.

When Piper Fernley, Pipes the unPlugged when writing her popular blog, is knocked down by a frightened dog on her morning run, she doesn’t expect the dog’s owner to land on top of her. Or the attraction she feels for the rude woman who isn’t her type. But that’s nothing compared to the shock of finding out the woman is her new boss. Fortunately, the gig at the job is temporary, but how is she supposed to survive six weeks with a guarded, uptight woman who doesn’t even like her?

Veterinarian Dahlia Noble prefers animals to most people—they aren’t duplicitous. After a difficult childhood and the divorce from hell, Dal’s focus is her daughter and her work. The unpretentious office temp is growing on Dal, but her past, the boss/employee rulebook, and a divorce agreement mean there is no place in her life for Piper.

Sometimes when you stop looking, your heart finds exactly what it needs.

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels!

TB here.

Last weekend we attended the 150th anniversary of the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut.

This is one of our favorite gilded age homes. We spent the majority of the day on the grounds since the tours were crowded. One of the activities was hat making using paper shopping bags. Miranda really got into it.

Have a wonderful weekend!
