SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend and Pride!

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Sapphic author Annette Mori shares a Caturday photo of an adorable feline sticking his tongue out.

One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out sapphic fiction authors Iona Kane, Brey Willows, Robyn Nyx, and Jo Fletcher at last year’s Pride in Leicester

Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of TB and Miranda’s walk along the Hudson River in New York City.

Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. I’m Australian, but like 30% of Aussies, I wasn’t born here. I’ve travelled a lot, and lived in many countries, but as the song goes, “I still call Australia home.”
2. I wrote short stories and erotica for many years before I got braver and switched to longer stories. My first novella came out in 2015, and I now have thirteen novels and novellas out there.
3. I picked my pseudonym when I was living in the U.S. and the name I chose reflects this.
4. I’m a huge foodie, and love to grow my own veggies, buy local, cook, bake, and preserve. Unsurprisingly, there’s always a lot of food in my books (and a lot of my preserves in friends’ cupboards).
5. My latest book has two different settings. I didn’t need to do much research for the main setting as I already knew it so well, but the other location needed many hours of research, as apart from a trip there as a kid, I’ve only ever passed through the airport.

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Cheyenne Blue!

Check out Switcheroo, Cheyenne Blue’s new release!

A New Yorker wins a life swap competition and ends up where she least expects

New Yorker Hayley Reed is so over life, her crappy apartment, and her two jobs as a cook and bartender. When she wins a contest to swap lives with someone for a year, all expenses paid, she’s ecstatic. That is until she finds herself on a remote Australian cattle station with basic food, empty views, and an attractive butch station hand who clearly dislikes her.

Get Switcheroo here.

Cheyenne Blue’s bio:

Cheyenne Blue has been hanging around the lesbian erotica world since 1999 writing short lesbian erotica which has appeared in over 90 anthologies. Her stories got longer and longer and more and more romantic, so she went with the flow and switched to writing romance novels. She now writes big-hearted sapphic romance novels set in Australia—the latest being Switcheroo. She lives in southeast Queensland in a small house with a big view—perfect for morning coffee, evening wine, and anytime writing.

Queer News Worth Clicking Graphic

TB is determined to spread good rainbow news during 2024, which let’s face, is going to be a rough year. There are a lot of elections all over the world, which means we’re in for a lot of scaremongering. While it’s important to stay informed, it’s also vital not to lose sight of all the kindness in the world. Below are the happy queer stories that made TB smile this week. They’re queer news links worth clicking!

Iona Kane, Brey Willows, Robyn Nyx, and Jo Fletcher at pride event

It’s always amazing to see sapphic authors come together to celebrate Pride. Bravo Iona Kane, Brey Willows, Robyn Nyx, and Jo Fletcher. Shown here at last year’s Pride in Leicester.

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels and find out what sapphic books they’ve brought along!

TB here.

Last weekend, Miranda and I went to New York to celebrate our 50th birthdays. We spent one of the days walking along the Hudson River. It was a perfect day. The temps were in the 70s, the sky was blue, and we ended up walking over 20,000 steps. We also attended Travesty Doll Play Ballez, a ballet at the Chelsea Factory. It was a wonderful production with themes of gender identity and expression, and all of the dancers were trans, genderqueer, or nonbinary. What an amazing way to kick off Pride (a week early, but is it ever too early for Pride?).

Find out more about Ballez, founded by genderqueer lesbian choreographer Katy Pyle, right here.

Now for some photos from our walk.

Happy Pride!

Miranda & TB
