SapphFic Mischief Saturday Morning Graphic
Happy weekend!

Saturdays are when we curate all the sapphic book news and queer happenings of the week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good woman loving woman book. What could be better?

In today’s post, you’ll find cheerful LGBTQ+ news stories to combat all the negative ones bombarding our screens.

Sapphic reader Bobbi shares a Caturday photo of a sneaky feline.

One of the things we love about the weekly lesfic author selfie is getting to know the personality behind the words. Check out sapphic fiction author M. J. Milne with Secrets of the Italian Villa.

Finally, scroll to the bottom of the post to see photos of TB and Miranda’s visit to Nantucket for a very special car parade.

Guess the Author GraphicBefore we get to today’s post, it’s time to reveal the identity of this week’s Guess the Author!

Every week we provide five clues about a sapphic author. On Saturday, we reveal the author’s identity.

Before we unveil this week’s author, here are all 5 clues in case you missed them:

1. I’m left-handed and while a lot of people wanted to try to make me right-handed as a kid, my mom insisted they leave me alone (thanks, Mom!). No one else in my immediate family is left-handed, so that means that I still don’t really know how to chop vegetables the right way. Don’t even ask me to peel a potato.
2. My favorite Taylor Swift song is Cornelia Street. I feel like you almost have to answer one of these with your favorite Taylor song. Am I doing this right?
3. One of my favorite places to go in the US is New Orleans. I’ve been there 6 times.
4. When I first started publishing, I actually published 2 books, 2 days apart because I had no idea what I was doing.
5. I recently went back to an old series and started adding new books to it, and the next release in that series required a lot of research on waxing (boards not bodies).

Now it’s time to reveal their name. Drum roll please…

This week’s author is Nicole Pyland!

Check out Crashing into Love, Nicole Pyland’s new release!

A crash causes Drew to miss her chance at Olympic gold once, but she won’t miss it again, even if she’s falling in love with the boarder who caused her to crash out the first time.

Four years ago, Selma caused Drew to crash out of the Olympics. Today, Drew shows up at Selma’s family ski lodge. As they get to know each other, both of them are forced to let go of the guilt and anger they’re holding on to in order to have a chance at another Olympics and maybe something more.

Nicole Pyland’s bio:

Queer News Worth Clicking Graphic

TB is determined to spread good rainbow news during 2024, which let’s face, is going to be a rough year. There are a lot of elections all over the world, which means we’re in for a lot of scaremongering. While it’s important to stay informed, it’s also vital not to lose sight of all the kindness in the world. Below are the happy queer stories that made TB smile this week. They’re queer news links worth clicking!

Molly Cook just became the first out LGBTQ+ person elected to the Texas Senate — We wish her luck!

The Rocky Horror Show is returning to the West End with Jason Donovan — Exciting!

Nonbinary pop star rocks an amazing trans flag outfit in semi-finals of Eurovision — Amazing!

Billboards placed across UK to honor trans history: “Always been here. Always will be.” — True!

Red, White & Royal Blue sequel confirmed with Nicholas Galitzine and Taylor Zakar-Perez returning — Wonderful!

Meet June the sneaky cat who can open doors

This is June. June has never met a closed door she appreciates. Her favorite “drive her human mama absolutely crazy” antic is to open the back door in the middle of the night especially in sub zero weather. She’s so damned smart she’s figured out how to turn the deadbolt to unlock it too. So in order to keep her from pulling her magic trick I have to tape the deadbolt so she can’t turn it. The really obnoxious part is she has a collar on that opens a dog door 3 feet to the right of the back door. She knows if she goes near it the motor will open the door big enough for a German Shepherd to go through. Yet she opens the door anyways. Submitted by Bobbi, a sapphic reader.

MJ Milne with Secrets of the Italian Villa

Have you read Secrets of the Italian Villa by M. J. Milne yet? Here’s the tagline: A spicy, sapphic, slow burn romance about finding the courage to love again—no matter who you are.

TB and Miranda love exploring places near and far, almost as much as they love a good sapphic book. Follow them on their travels and find out what sapphic books they’ve brought along!

TB here.

A couple of weekends ago, Miranda and I traveled to Nantucket Island for a special car parade to celebrate Daffy Day. Which is a festival dedicated to daffodils, my favorite spring flower.

The cars line up before the start so everyone can check them out. Then there’s the parade. It was such a fun day!

Here are some photos.

Wishing all of you a wonderful weekend!

Miranda & TB
