It’s a busy weekend at IHS Headquarters!

Saturdays are when we round up all the sapphic book news from the previous week into one convenient location. Think of it as your personal queer reading directory! After all, we know the weekend is when so many of us are able to unwind for a minute and want to get lost in a good wlw book. What could be better?

TB and Miranda are frantically bashing out words on Flight Plan, their upcoming release. That means they’re stuck inside all weekend, drinking gallons of tea and eating lots of chocolate. Wish them luck!

Calling all sapphic authors!

We’re organizing the next big sale on I Heart SapphFic.

Here are the important details:

The sale dates are May 25-29.
Authors can include up to 3 books per pen name.
The sale price points are: $0.99, $1.99, $2.99, $3.99 and $4.99
If you’re listing your book at $2.99 or higher, the book must be at least a 50% discount off the regular price. That means perma 99c and $1.99 books are allowed, but if you want to list for $2.99, the book must have a regular price of $5.99 or higher.
Books MUST be at their sale price in ALL marketplaces no later than noon EST on May 24.
The deadline to join is May 18th.
NEW POLICY: If you get involved in this or any IHS sale going forward and then fail to discount your book by the deadline (which is always noon the day before the sale starts), you will not be allowed to participate in any other sales or special events for 90 days. Where the heck was TB?

TB loves exploring places near and far, so we’ve created a weekly game where TB goes on an adventure, snaps some photos, and then lets you guess her location.

To answer last week’s mystery, 31% of you were right. Miranda & I visited the Witch House in Salem, Massachusetts. Also, 36% of you guessed I got teary eyed thinking of the victims of the Salem Witch Trials. I did and do whenever I’m in Salem. I can’t stand the thought of people senselessly hurting others. Given the rise of hate in the world, this particular history makes me so uncomfortable knowing how awful people can be to others.

Last week Miranda and I hopped in the car and head to Newport, Rhode Island to visit some of the Gilded Age mansion. For the first one, we brought along The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid.

Here are some facts about the mansion.

1. It’s designed after an 18th-century French chateau and it was constructed from 1899 to 1901.

2. It was the summer cottage of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Julius Berwind, who made their insane amount of wealth from the coal industries.

3. It was one of the first homes in the US to be wired for electricity without a backup system.

4. In 1922, Mrs. Berwind died and Julia A. Berwind, Edward Berwind’s youngest sister, moved in and become the hostess. When Edward died, he left the home to Julia.

5. Julia died in 1961 and left the mansion to a nephew, who didn’t want the home. After trying to give it to another family member, the family ended up auctioning off the contents and sold the mansion to a developer who planned to tear it down.

6. Before the wrecking ball took the house out, the Preservation Society of Newport County purchased it for $116,000, opening it up to the public.
