Welcome to week 44 of the 2023 IHS Sapphic Reading Challenge, where we have so many sapphic books to share!
A Very Bad Weekend
Before we get to this week’s Reading Challenge, we have some heartbreaking news from IHS Headquarters. TB’s beloved cat Grey passed away unexpectedly on Saturday. TB is utterly heartbroken. You can read more about Grey here.
On Sunday, TB & Miranda boarded a flight to Las Vegas for a writing conference. There was one delay after another, so a 7-hour journey took closer to 14. They got in late last night, which explains why we’re a bit slower this Monday morning. We apologize for any inconvenience. Given that we’re on Pacific time this week, we may be getting posts and newsletters out later than usual.
Now for the Reading Challenge
Here is the breakdown of Reading Challenge achievements so far this year:
- 141 readers have reached Garnet level so far this year by reading 15 books.
- 125 readers reach Topaz level, which is 25 books
- 116 readers have reached Sapphire level with 50 books
- 42 readers have reached Amethyst level with 100 books
- 28 amazing readers have reached Emerald level with 200 books in 100 categories!
- 4 spectacular readers have reached Emerald level TWICE, with 400 books!

With 100 categories and over 2,000 book recommendations coming your way this year, our aim is to make it as easy as possible to reach your reading goal!
Remember, if you are participating in the reading challenge, you only need 15 books in 15 categories to reach the first level.
Have you reached a new level? Tell us about it here and enter the end-of-year drawings while you’re at it. Remember, this year you will be entered into the drawings for every level you complete, not just the highest. We do not need you to submit your reading list unless you are one of the winners at the end of the year.
Now for the books!
The first section contains sapphic books with CEO / Executive characters. 5 are on sale.
The second section is dedicated to sapphic stories with Murder / Crime / Serial Killer. 5 of those are on sale.
There are some fab options in both sections, including several top names in lesfic such as Anna Stone, Renee Roman, Emily Banting, Max Ellendale, Ann Aptaker, Rachel Ford, and so many others. You’ll find lesfic age gap, wlw office romance, queer suspense, and more with women loving women characters. If you get lost between the two lists, just look for the rainbow hearts at the start of each new section.
10 of the books are on sale, too, so scoop up some fantastic reads at bargain prices.
